Inder Pal is an agriculturist by profession and a marginal farmer with a total landholding of 1.33 acres from Village Faridapur Inayat Khan, Bareilly. Inder Pal cultivates a variety of crops ranging from Paddy, Wheat, Vegetables and Mustard and was very keen to learn new techniques in farming to improve his household income.

Inder Pal joined the farmer group of 19 farmers working on improving Mustard yield in his village where training programs and exposure visits are organized by Mrida and IL&FS in partnership with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Bareilly, for improving crop yield of Mustard through simple techniques.

Through these simple techniques like seed selection (seed variety selection – HD 2967 & HD 2851), seed treatment, plucking flowers after 50 days and use of seed drills, Inder Pal’s output increased from 390 Kgs to 750 Kgs per acre registering more than 90% growth. Other farmers in the group registered an average increase of 60%, which is again a game changer and a revolution in mustard cultivation.

This was a great achievement for the farmers in Village Faridapur Inayat Khan and this year 37 farmers are part of Mustard yield improvement program in more than 43 acres of land. Various similar programs for wheat, paddy, mushroom and vegetables are being offered and practiced in another 4 villages in the catchment by IL&FS and Mrida where 114 farmers will benefit.
